The career path of an artist is rarely a straight line. At times it seems more like a staggering wander through the woods where every turn is the wrong one. Or are they? DMC’s inaugural Rapport artist Jennifer Irons is an internationally-recognized, award-winning choreographer, performer, director and writer. She is also, according to one critic, responsible for creating, "The Worst Show of all time." In Epic Fail, she shares the fails of her life and career in all their floundering glory to examine the importance of our perceived missteps and to maybe (dare we?) even appreciate them. Part lecture, part anecdote, part workshop; the session includes a visual presentation with some inspirational quotes (probably off the internet) and some practical exercises to kickstart a new outlook, a new project, or even revive an old (maybe failed!) one. "This was hands down the best workshop of my year! Jen’s honesty is refreshing and funny. I feel galvanised!" - Epic Fail participant, London 2021
Rapport is DMC’s international exchange residency with UK partner South East Dance, based in Brighton. Jennifer Irons is DMC’s inaugural UK artist-in-residence through our Rapport residency partnership. Rapport is supported by South East Dance and Parramatta Artist Studios.
